Client: Large Offshore Wind Operator

Challenge:

The tools used before the implementation had to be programmed individually before every maintenance task, were it was up to the individual operator to find the values and program accordingly, whick introduced errors. Further, after tightening, the data was not stored meaning no traceability and no data available for optimization of bolt maintenance.

Solution:

In collaboration with the customer, a range of requirements was identified regarding quality and user experience. Based on the requirments, the long list of potential tool suppliers was reduced to a handfull. A close collaboration was setup with the selected tool suppliers to tailor their solutions to the customer including APIs to upload to bolt tightening progras and for retriving the bolt tightening data after the maintenance job was performed.

Outcome:

The wind farm operator have digitilized their bolt tightening process reducing the human errors to zero and retriving the data after maintenance. The data is used for optimization of the bolt maintenance strategy meaning that there is even more cost savings to gain once the data is utilized.
