Challenge:

The tools used before the implementation had to be programmed individually before every maintenance task, were it was up to the individual operator to find the values and program accordingly, which introduced errors. Furthermore, after tightening, the data was not stored properly resulting in no traceability and no data available for optimization of bolt maintenance.

Solution:

In collaboration with the customer, a range of requirements were identified regarding quality and user experience. Based on the requirments, the long list of potential tool suppliers was reduced to a handfull. A close collaboration was set up with the selected tool suppliers to tailor their solutions to the customer needs and requrements including APIs to be uploaded to the bolt tightening programs and for retriving the bolt tightening data after the maintenance job was performed.

Outcome:

The wind farm operators have digitilized their bolt tightening process, thus reducing the human errors to zero and retriving the data after maintenance. The data is used for optimization of the bolt maintenance strategy resulting in even more cost savings to be gained once the data is utilized.
